Local context

What we see when we work in Camden

Practical, area-specific notes — not generic copy.

The London Borough of Camden is a sharply unequal central London borough — Hampstead and Belsize Park sit alongside some of the most deprived wards in inner London around Kilburn, Gospel Oak and Somers Town. Camden’s housing stock includes Georgian and Victorian conversions, ex-LCC estates, post-war council towers, and modern luxury developments around King’s Cross — and we work in all of them.

Camden is internationally relevant in the UK hoarding and self-neglect (SNAH) field — Camden Council’s research found that “deep clean or decluttering services in isolation… are unlikely to lead to long-term and meaningful change”. Our model is the explicit alternative: trauma-informed, person-centred, paced to the resident, and carried out alongside the Camden multi-agency hoarding panel where appropriate.

Camden & Islington NHS FT (now part of North London Mental Health Partnership) provides community mental health, learning disability and adult ND services. Adult diagnostic waits remain long; we do not require a diagnosis.

Many Camden flats are small. We do not need a 'project'. A single Camden session might reorganise one cupboard in a Hampstead conversion or work through a stack of letters in a Somers Town flat. The home does not have to be photogenic.

For commissioners & professionals

Working with London Borough of Camden

If you are a social worker, OT, housing officer, safeguarding lead or commissioner in Camden, here is how Neatly fits alongside your work.

Statutory alignment

We deliver a person-centred, trauma-informed model that complements Care Act 2014 (or the equivalent Scottish, Welsh or NI framework) assessments and multi-agency self-neglect & hoarding work. We are explicitly NOT a deep-clean contractor.

Procurement & commissioning

Neatly is willing to engage with Camden Adult Social Care, SEND commissioning and the North Central London ICB. Our model is the explicit alternative to deep-clean contractors named in Camden’s own self-neglect & hoarding research.
