This is what we do. In simple words.

  • We help you tidy your home.

  • You are in charge. We listen to you.

  • You choose what to keep. You choose what to throw away.

  • Your support worker or family can help if you want.

  • We take our time. We do not rush.

  • All our staff have a DBS check. They are safe.

  • You can call us. You can email us. You can ask a friend to help.

Things we know

Tidying can be hard. We can help.

Some things that we want you to know before we start.

Tidying takes longer for some people

That is okay. We give you all the time you need. We do not say 'hurry up'. We do not say 'just do it'.

It can be hard to remember where things go

We use pictures and labels. We make a plan you can see. Your home will be easier to use after.

Some people feel worried about strangers in their home

You meet your helper before they come. You see a photo of them. Your support worker or family member can be there.

How we adapt

How we help

Things we do to make our help work for you.

We work with your support worker or family

If you have a support worker, they can be there. If you live with family, they can be there. Or just you and us. You choose.

  • You decide who is in the room
  • We talk to you, not over you
  • You are the boss of the session

Pictures and labels

We use pictures to help. Pictures on cupboards. Pictures on boxes. So you know where things go.

  • Picture labels on drawers
  • Visual schedule for the session
  • Easy Read notes after the session

Longer sessions, more breaks

We book extra time. We have breaks. We have a cup of tea. There is no rush.

  • Longer sessions are okay
  • Take breaks when you want
  • Stop when you are tired

Plain English, plain choices

We do not use big words. We give you two or three choices, not lots. We check you understand. We check you are happy.

  • Plain English only
  • Small choices, not big ones
  • We check you are happy with what we are doing
