Sheffield is the only English city to sit partly within a National Park (the Peak District). It contains an extraordinary range of housing and demographics — from the affluent S11 wards (Ecclesall, Dore, Totley) to the inner-city east (Page Hall, Burngreave, Manor) which contains some of the most ethnically diverse and most deprived wards in Yorkshire.
Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS FT (SHSC) provides community mental health, learning disability and adult ND services across Sheffield. Adult ASD and ADHD diagnostic waits remain long; we do not require a diagnosis.
Sheffield has a long-established cooperative and community-led tradition (the city is the base of UK cooperative research and many disability-led organisations), and we work in step with that culture rather than bringing a top-down service-user framing.
We work in stone Victorian terraces in Crookes and Walkley, post-war estates in Manor and Parson Cross, modern apartments in Kelham Island, and substantial detached houses in the S10/S11 belt.
